I used to have a MCB S2000 and sold it on May 2007. I just got a NFR S2000 last month and is my first RED coloured car (well I used to have for 6 months a red Starlet).
However, I am a bit confused with the reaction that I get from people once they see that my S2000 is RED. Actually their opinion does not bother me at all. Its my car and I love it, anyway.
The first question by them is, "Why red?".
Another comment is "Red colour increases your insurance expenses".
Also "Red S2K? This man is not to be taken seriously (for relations)".
Common psychological fact is that "Red represents high self-confidence".
Other comments include that "A red S2K is sexy and is loved by pu$$y". This actually happens for real.
I would think of many other negative and positive comments regarding the choice of NFR S2K, but why there are so many comments done regarding this colour!? I get this on my face very frequently within a month only.
I remember when I had the MCB S2K that I wasn't getting so much attention ie "Why MCB S2K".
Last but not least, I love my new NFR S2000 and I know who I am, therefore am not concerned at all of others opinion, but I wanted to share this issue cause it has never happened to me before and am surprised as well.
Please share your thoughts or similar comments / issues as well.

Don't get me wrong, but I love cars in only black, white, or silver. The S2000 is one of the few cars that actually looks sexy in yellow and red. I think you'll be getting more 'damn, nice viper' comments. Red gives it that more...exotic look.
In my group of friends, we try not to be too flashy so when I got a red s2000 I'm sticking way out of the group. They all have either black, white or blue cars.
I'm extremely happy about getting a NFR though. Especially when I get my shine on and it reflects just like a mirror.

NFR was my second choice. I really wanted Silverstone with the 2 tone interior. However, after having the car for 4 years now, I love it more than any other color. Bias? Maybe. Also, it seems to me that you dont see NFR quite as often on other s2k's. Lets face it, though, this car looks damn fine in any shade its offered in.
Has anyone actually been charged high insurance premiums for the color of their car? I suppose the insurance company can get the color from the VIN, but I have never been asked to supply it.
Red looks great on roadsters and sportscars. Yes, other colors look great too, but its red. It screams. My wife loves the color. Maybe people make negative comments because they are envious.
