No shady brokers or other scuzzbags - take it to Honda.
Some of the dealers (stealerships?) might even charge you $100 to check out your new S2000, but at least you'll be sure to get it back. $100 is pretty cheap peace of mind for your new baby. Don't trust it to an unknown shop. Even reputable shops have limited experience with the S2000. At least, if you take it to Honda, you will have some (limited?) recourse to their national organization.

Summary: while there are always some risks of taking your S2000 to a local dealership, there are far greater risks, and far fewer avenues of recourse, with unknown dealers.

I called honda and gave them my vin. No recall.

Im wondering maybe he sold me a janky car and now is trying to fix it? It runs like a champ however.

- He keeps bugging me to leave it overnight so it is really getting suspicious now. I have to go there saturday to pick up a spare tire and jack, Ill just say im busy and cant leave the car overnight

Sounds like you have the right feelings about this set up. Is there some way to run his name or business name by a police officer.

Tell him you can't leave it with him because you are getting it rigged with lo-jack and a tracking system for the seats that particular day. You found a security specialist that needs it for two days to properly equip it and log the high value parts. Whatever that all means. Haha, he might not need your car, overnight, so badly then.

That will prevent any visits to your address also.

Haha this is the shadiest thing i have ever herd. Even if there was a recall why would a random dealer unrelated to Honda spend time and labor hours on fixing it? there is either some part on the car he wants or he wants to take something. DONT DO IT!!!

Lol this is the shadiest thing i've ever heard, also if i was you i'd get seat locks like NOW, i hope you have a garage, because this guy knows the seats are worth lots of dough, i hope nothing happens but shady people like that will go the extra mile no problem.

WHAAT? WOW.

Did you buy the car from this guy? How much you want to bet that car is stolen or worse.

You really need to run a background check on this guy or contact your local authorities. If there is any way to cancel your check for purchasing the car i'd do that as well and give the car back. Sounds SUPER Shady.

Recall are ONLY done at Honda Dealerships. So even if there was something for your car there is no way any Independent shop would be able to do it.
