Yeah, sounds like you are half way through a scam - get your money, then get the car back. I hope you have full insurance - the "dealer" knows the car and has your address. I'd contact the local police.

This is just too good not to know what's going on with this scum bag. How about a good ol' fashioned stakeout? I'll be in the Bay Area next week.

Reconsidering my earlier advice. How 'bout you find a young, undercover cop that could be your friend. Tell this shady dealer that you'd be happy to let him have the car overnight, but that you and your friend will be staying with the car.

Lacking an undercover cop for a friend, bring your video camera and document what's being done. Maybe even pitch it to the dealer as wanting to do a documentary on his shop that he could use for PR purposes.

If you try this, make sure that several folks, including the local law enforcement folks, know where you are going. After all, you want a car, not cement shoes.

- Call the guy and ask him what the recall pertains to.

- Post on here about it. As far as I know the S never had a recall

- Based on the info the broker provides, contact one or two of the nearest Honda dealerships and validate the info he gave you as well.

- If it is a recall it has to be fixed by an authorized service center IIRC.
