This.

Read the article, it really breaks down what's going on with the transmission, diff, flywheel, pressure plate, etc. It also talks about "launching" RPM's...why you should launch at higher RPM's, and why the diff tends to break on the AP1 more so than the AP2. It really is a good read.

I think id rather wear my clutch out than brake a diff lol. nothing wrong with swapping a clutch out more often than usual.. but theres something wrong with swapping a diff out.

people break the tires loose on purpose. what destroys the differential is the hard loading. If you "hook" to get a good launch you're doing more damage than breaking it loose and spinning the tires (depends on tires, tarmac...)

Launching at higher RPM is better on your differential (and clutch, actually) than feathering. As previously mentioned, it's the load on the driveline that causes things to break. If you spin your tires a bit, that load is greatly reduced. Eventually you will catch traction. This is all considering a track environment. On the street it would be dumb to even launch the car in the first place if you ask me.

There's a reason AWD cars tend to break shit all the time when repeatedly launched hard--the parts have to deal with almost all of the force every time because they hook so well.
