That's a load of crap. If a driveshaft disconnects from the transmission at highway speed it most certainly could kill. I've seen cars flip onto their roofs at the dragstrip from driveshaft failure. Rolling a car on the highway most certainly could be fatal. I'd be royally pissed at the shop responsible.
We have a protective strip of metal that stops the driveshaft from falling if it comes undone.

I had the same thing happen after a clutch swap. The transmission was loose enough to break on of the motor mounts. The dealer made it right but they have lost my business for good.

Hyperbole, the clip holds it together and I have had this and the noise of the bolt/nut falling is plenty to get you off the road. They F'd the locktite.
