Thicker Head Gaskets with Higher Boost levels Questions
I am looking for advice on what sized head gasket I should put on since I will be trying to reach higher boost levels. I hear people a using 7.5-8 lbs without intercoolers or aftercoolers. I am putting on a Comptech super charger aftercooler and will be shooting for 9-10 lbs of boost. I am thinking about putting on a 1.5mm thick gasket. I read about someone else was turbo boosting 8 plus and and using a 3mm thick head gasket. I am not sure where people are getting high quality head gaskets and what thickness is appropriate? I hear that by lowering the compresstion will comprimise lowend torque to gain high end boost and power. What is the hot setup?

If you use a thicker head gasket I believe you will make the motor weaker. Because it make the cylinder quench area weaker. Also a thicker head gasket might give it more area for detonation which might blow out. Correct me if I'm wrong.

A thicker head gasket to lower compression has been experimented with a lot by lots of people. About 90% of the time, it fails and the head gasket leaks. It is entirely possible, but not very probable. Don't try it unless you have years of motor building experience with a bonafide race team. It's not worth it.
