Default Turbo Head Gasket?

I am about to start on my kit and the only thing left to get, or not get, is a head gasket to lower the compression. I have talked with some people who say not to, and some who say i should. What is everyones opinions on this? If you suggest getting a gasket, which kind/size should i go with?

there is a long post on this on why not to, I forget who's it was, but their motor blew up because they could not get the head sealed. I'm not sure if it was a bad gasket or just a bad idea.

Do you know if Xerd is using a head gasket on your car? Also do you happen to have a link to that thread, for some reason my search feature doesn't work.

i think it depends on how much boost youre planning. if its around 7 to 8 lbs i think its a luxory but not a neccesity. if you ever need to take teh head off definatly go for it. atleast spray a new stock one with copper seal spray if you cant get a copper head gasket.

we talked about using it, but opted not to, because I got scared of the other guys post, I might use it if I do a rebuild with pistons sleeves etc.

The only person that I know of that has tried it is Chris (cjb80) and he had less than stellar results. Also... you aren't going to be able to run more than about 5-6 psi without doing something to prevent detonation. You can do it by using the head gasket, or running race gas or several other methods but you should figure out what you're going to do.
