Things to check for in a used S2000
I'm looking at picking up my first S2000, although I'm having a hard time finding ample opportunities up north. The one I'm looking at right now is a 2003 S2k with 172k miles on it. Somewhat high mileage, but it's a Honda so I'm not too worried about it. I also plan on building up the motor and whatnot for boost in the near future, so many parts will be replaced at that point anyways.
According to the seller, it's in fine mechanical condition, although he has no idea when the clutch was last replaced as he bought it used from someone else. Still on the orig motor and trans. Front bumper is getting repainted due to rock chips, but other than that, he claims it's in great condition sans a few scuffs/chips on the car.
He lives ~6 hours away from me, so I want to get everythign figured out before I make a trip out to check it out and whatnot. I'll of course have a shop check it over while I"m out there, but what specifically should I ask about/check out in these cars? He's asking $10,000 for it, I'm going to offer 8 and see where we stand. Does that seem fair?

It appears you completely missed this lovely thread that's at the very top of this section.
What to look for when buying a used S2000
I'd recommend going through that.
Then, assuming you like that specific car, I'd post it here:
-Official- Is this car worth it thread - vol. 2
Which is another thread that's on the front page of this section you overlooked.
