Use what stuff s2krally? You mean the soft top patches? It's to prevent wear in the top which leads to a hole. It's a common problem among s2k's it seems that the support bars rub on the soft top which eventually leads to a hole. The "fix" is to apply some extra material on the inside to those spots so the bars rub on the extra material rather than the outter soft top.

If there's a DIY thread somewhere regarding applying a patch/extra wear pads to the soft top, I'd love to see one as well. Maybe I'll consider creating one when I do this myself.

Here is a link to the product website. I tried it on my original top which was faded after 3 years. It looked brand new afterwards. I use it on the leather, vinyl, plastic. I tried the ragtop but nobody local carried it so I had to order it. 303 seemed to work as well and cheaper/easier to get.

Just a minor update to this thread, but picked up the s2k today and it's a blast. Got a garage spot for it so I can rest easy at night.. don't know what I was thinking about not having it garaged.. It's yellow on black (not my first choice for the color, but looks good and car is in terrific shape ). After driving it for a day, it's amazing to me how light the clutch pedal pressure is on these cars. I guess honda put in a pretty soft/light pressure plate so it wouldn't stress the drivetrain on engagement too much?

Hopefully I can get a lot of the maintenance stuff done this weekend, but one question about the diff fluid. Almasol LE 607 was recommended as diff fluid, but is the LE Duolec 1605 the same thing?

Added a bunch of links pertaining to the top tears and how to fix them, specifically the issue with the right rear. I originally thought the bar that caused the wear was the one that sat up against the top, but it's not that one at all. After touching the "problem area" as shown in the TSB, it's actually not a very sharp edge, but not perfectly smooth like the driver's side:
