I bought my s last year and went to Scott Robinson Honda, they had a 00 berlina that tickled my fancy... the sticker stated 23K for it, I test drove it and liked it..... Went home to think about it.

Came back on the following Sunday (2 days later) and the Sticker was missing. I told the sales person (same guy) that I thought about it and that I was interested in purchasing the car. He told me that the car was going for 27K now....

WOOT? I said, "two days earlier the price was 23" ...he said.... "you will never find this car for under 30K period" I walked off angry as all hell.

I found my02 a week later with 10K less on the odometer going for 21K, so I bought it.

I came across the same sales guy at a gas station about 4 months ago, and told him about my deal, and all he had to say was "you got it that cheap because it's not certified" and I pointed at the certification in the window, and he walked away.

A salesman once told me that these brakes were made by Brembo. I asked if he was sure; he said he was 110% sure about it.

Edit: Too many stories. I left the two best.

A couple weeks before I finally bought my car, I was looking at a NFR S that had probably the worst example of the rear-bumper defect I've EVER seen. I told the salesperson that I couldn't take that car in that condition and asked if the dealer would consider repairing it. He flat out told me that if I could afford an S2000, I could afford the $200 or so to get it fixed myself.

When I was trying to purchase my '05 S2000, dealers in Columbia, SC kept telling me how rare the S2000 was and that I'm lucky that I can get it for sticker. I drove to Charlotte and bought it for FAR less.

The nice touch to the story was that I drove the S to pick up some maintenance items at a Columbia dealer. They had an '06 NFR in the showroom. Naturally, I decided to check out the changes. As I looked, the same salesperson that told me I couldn't get one for less than sticker comes up and asks me if I'm still interested in buying an S2000. I said no, so he asked why. I pointed to my NFR S2000 sitting just outside the window and said, "That's mine!" He was pissed I didn't buy it from him.

I was goofing off at a Nissan dealership, just looking at a 350z for kicks with no intent on buying. The converstation went somethign like this.

Salesman-"Sir are you interested in a new Z"

Me-"Possibly, how does it compare to the competition?"

(It should be noted here that the salesman could not see what i was driving)

Salesman-"It blows the others away. THe RX8 and the S2000 just plain suck"

Me-"Really?"

Salesman-"Its rarer, faster, handles better, has a better interior, and has a far more sophisticated engine. Bottom line the S2000 is pure trash"

Salesman-"What car are you looking to trade in on this beautiful Z?"

Me-"That blues S2000 over there"

Salesman-"I love S2000's, you just dont see that many of them"

What a retard

Ha -- when I bought my 2006, the S2000 badges were only on one side. I pointed this out to the salesman, who said: "They only come on one side." I then pointed to the 2006 Sebring parked next to it, and said "Then why does this one have them on both sides?" Pwned.

Needless to say, they ordered me a new set of side badges.

After e-mail exchanges, test drives, and table conversation for the final price OTD, the salesman tells me, "You've made a great choice on the S2002."

I'm pretty sure he meant the 2002 S, but it still sounded retarded.

Funniest / insulting(est?) thing I've heard was directed to my girlfriend when she was looking at a WRX STi:

"You can't handle the power. Why don't you check out the Outbacks?"

When I got my S2000 I also heard something funny, at least for a car dealer, honesty.

Paper put in front of me for paint / fabric protectant ($1400):

"Sign the X for do not wish to receive. It's a ripoff we pay $300 for someone to wax and scotchguard your car."

I'm not even going to mention the stupid BS dealers tell me. That goes in one ear and out the other.

However, in 2002 when I was shopping for my S2000, a Honda dealer did something that really pissed me off. He gestured to something on my lapel saying "you've got something on your jacket" and then flipped his finger up and hit my nose. I couldn't F'ING believe it! I couldn't even think of anything to say, I was so dumbstruck. My immediate priority was to leave that room as quickly as possible.

I couldn't believe that jackass expected me to buy a car from him!

Id be more concerned that one of your fenders had been repainted and they shop forgot to put the badge back on. You know dealers do not have to declare damages to vehicles under $1000 - they can still sell them as brand new.
