Default Thinking about a road trip...

My wife and I are taking a 2 week of vacation at the end of this month. We've considered a few destinations, but right now we're leaning towards doing a road trip of the southeast in the S2000. We're thinking of a leisurely drive up the east coast, taking a few days to go from S. Florida to DC with a few stops along the way. After a few days in DC, drive the Blue Ridge Parkway through the mountains in VA and NC, then hit the Dragon before making our way back home. Should be fun.

Now for the practical considerations... We have no worries about packing with the S, we can travel light without issue. My primary worry is with the tires, specifically the dreaded "what if I get a flat". I don't typically carry a spare in the car, and I'm not sure it would matter if I had one. With a trunk full of bags, it's not like you have room to store a full size flat without tossing your luggage on the side of the road. So, I'm wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a tire patch/repair kit that I can carry? I vaguely remember some car like the Z4 came with something like this. I'm hesitant to use a can of the "fix a flat" goop, since it makes a mess of the wheel.

Any suggestions?

Jeff, Honda dealers can supply you with the spare delete kit that comes with the CR model S. I think it is part # 42774-S2A-A01. That fits into the tool well and contains everything you might need. I have never carried a spare for well over 100,000 miles and two S2000s. Knock on wood.

You might also want to make sure those seats are secured!! A flat tire may be the least of your worries!

I forgot about the CR kit, but at ~$275, OUCH!

Thinking about getting this plug kit for $12 (anyone used these before)

and this basic inflator for $18

Both of these should fit in the space above the gas tank (I've got an amp mounted in place of the spare tire), so I wouldn't sacrifice any trunk space.

I'd be all over that if I had a hardtop.
