Hmmmm...the Honda repair kit is $42 at this site:
The kit I was looking at was a new styrofoam piece for the trunk well, the repair kit itself, the mini-compressor, etc. And that price was crazy!

I have used a tire patch kit like the one you listed. They work fine, just bring a good pair of pliers to remove item in your tire. I've used this kit on lower profile tires than ours, with no problems.

Also bring ear plugs with you. If you spend alot of hours in the seat, you might appreciate a little noise reduction once in a while..

I don't mean to thread jack, but...

That's sweet! I'd love to get something like that for my CR... Any ideas on where to find something like that?

I Google'd for "spare tire roof rack" and variants with "cayman" or "porsche" to no avail. Any help is much appreciated...

I would just get a plug kit at Autozone (or any auto parts store) it should be less than $5 and get a little air pump that you plug into the power outlet, this way you can plug the hole and pump the tire back up. The plug kit comes with some glue (like rubber cement), the sealing strips and a tool to insert them. They are quick and easy to use for punctures. It would also help to have some small pliers, like the ones that come in a multitool to pull out any nails (or whatever punctured the tire). And don't worry, the plugs say they are temporary but I have used them till the tires wore out.

Sounds like you have a nice trip set up, have a great time.

$20 gets you the Slime repair kit @ Walmart. I have it and have used the pump many times without failure or anything. (Checking tire pressure, and refilling tires for others). I can't vouch for the fluid that comes with it b/c I haven't used it, but the pump is worth the $20 alone imho. That's all I've had in my S since I got it. If its not a full size spare, its not worth having in my car.

Jeff, Honda dealers can supply you with the spare delete kit that comes with the CR model S. I think it is part # 42774-S2A-A01. That fits into the tool well and contains everything you might need. I have never carried a spare for well over 100,000 miles and two S2000s. Knock on wood.
I was going to say the same thing i don't have a spare my CR came with the kit

Aside from the spare tire issue, make sure you and your wife will be comfortable riding in those seats for extended periods of time. My wife and I just finished a 12 hour drive home (500+ miles from Central Oregon to Northern CA via Crater Lake). We stopped to stretch every couple of hours but we are still feeling the effects...

I carry fix-a-flat. The tire shop can wipe out the goo when I bring it in. If I'm stuck on the side of the road with a trunk full of crap, I want to get up and running as quickly and easily as possible.

Then Utah must be terrible relative to other places. I've had 5 flats over the 30k miles I've driven mine--always a piece of metal in a rear tire.

My old work was a mile from the dump--that explained 2 of them--but Utahns seem to have a habit of throwing screws, nails, and other small chunks of pointy metal out the window onto the freeway.

I wanted to remove my spare, but not with this track record!
