For those of you w/ front grill: have you noticed a decrease in performance?

I just put on my front grill today. Looks very sharp. But whilte driving it for about half-an-hour, I noticed a lag... as if I had my parking brakes on. This is by no means scientific or anything, but I could feel it. After the drive, I took off the grill and everything seemed to be back to normal. Acceleration good and throttle response good just like I remember it.

Could the front grill affect performance? Has anyone else had similar issues?

Perhaps it's psycological. Maybe you should have someone put it on or take it off without telling you. Much like a taste test. Sometimes when I know something it ends up imparing my judgement.

You must have it mounted backwards.

SpaceNeedle:

Tanqueray started a post about another grille-related issue here: http://www.s2000online.com/forums/showthre...?threadid=14714, and there didn't seem to be any consensus about cause and effect. Not sure if they're related, but it is interesting that two owners are perceiving performance issues related to the same accessory...

It has to affect airflow into the engine somewhat, even a small amount.

I can help you with this one... All you have to do is take off the grill (you've done that already), then, ship it to me You have the performance you want and you have a friend in the big H. hehehehe

Seriously, it should not affect your performance at all.

Peace bro.

I don't think it's just "a little" airflow. The holes are pretty small. Barry from Wyoming was talking about how his little license plate perhaps added to his four bar... I think this grill restricts airflow even more than that.

I really hope it's just my butt because it looks tight. I hope David McCune and others comment on this.

I've had the grill on since Asheville and I don't detect any difference.

Sounds like a drag issue. Take the grill and hold it out a car window at 60 MPH and see how much drag it creates. It has to be acting as an air brake to a certain extent.

Bieg,

Whatever drag it creates is offset by the drag it blocks on all the crap behind it. Any difference in drag will be immaterial at best. Admit it, this is just one of your anti-modification rants in disguise...you're going to have to try harder next time.
