For those of you w/ front grill: have you noticed a decrease in performance?
I have had the grill on now for over a month now and I have not noticed any lack in performance. The one HUGE plus for me and the grill happened the other night at dusk. I was bootin' it home from work on the freeway and as a went under an over pass a bunch of small birds appeared from the other side of the freeway (must have been the wounderful noise of vtec that attracted them) Anyway one poor little sucker dove when he should have climbed and - you guessed it - bam - right into my grill. I pulled off at the next off ramp, to check out the damage. - NONE - I picked off the remains of the poor bird - drove home and washed my car. The S2000accessories grill saved my rad - Thanks
I was searching some different threads and came upon this, and was wondering if I could get some input 6 months after WRS2K (a.k.a. You should have kept that name
) Posted the questions about the front grill. After 80 hours of work we compiled the data and made it available.
As I have always stated, It protects the condenser and can improve the looks of the S2000 IMO . I have had the opportunity to deal with hundreds of S2000 International Members on our products and especially the Front Grill.
Just some opinions on the grills.
Our grill tests can be seen at

A thread that should be in the future forum for the sponsors projects
WRS2K - It won't make the engine blow-up, and let me know about the airflow system. It could be one of the first products for the S2000 you accept

After installing the Mugen Cold Air Intake I noticed that the engine pulled harder as speed increased. This was all without the Coastal Metals grill on. But after I put the grill on, I felt that my engine was bogging on the freeway, it was strange, as I cruised on the freeway at about 70mph, it felt like gusts of wind were coming toward me pushing the car from the front. Almost like someone was messing with the hand brake or something. The car also didn't feel like it was pulling as hard upon acceleration.
I did a search and this thread showed up and it can't be a coincidence that other people had similar problems after installing the grill. I think for those that don't have a CAI, the difference the grill makes is so minimal it can't be felt. But I think the with the Mugen CAI, it amplifies the effects of a lack of airflow into the radiator opening.
I have the new version of the Mugen CAI where the opening does not reach all the way down past the radiator shroud. Mugen claims that positive pressure is created in the area in front of the radiator at speed and it forces air upwards into the CAI. Because of the importance of airflow (air pressure) in front of the radiator for the CAI, the effects of the grill are felt more.
So add one more to the list of people who CLAIM there's a difference when the grill is installed. Remember, this is only my opinion and I don't have any numbers to back up my observations, I just know the car feels different.
I can see how others say it makes no difference because I put the grill on the car about a year after not having any grill and I felt no difference.

I just got off the phone with RT. He doesn't have the captures on his laptop from last May. The differences we were seeing were significant. The test temperatures were all below 183F though.
Again, I have no idea on the airflow system performance. Without the hard numbers I can only speculate at this time, and that doesn't answer any questions.

Would installing the side vent air flow systems that Coastal Metals offer bring it back to close to the same drag on the front of the car?? Airflow would probably be different since the openings are further towards the outside of the car. Overall front drag would be improved since you are opening the blocked fake ducts with some airflow from the new vents.
