Throttle response in VTEC land
So I've been thinking about getting a roadster. I had a few test drives of the S2000 and I've loved them. I decided to rent one for the weekend to be sure. Amazing machine.
When the revs get up the throttle seems incredibly sensitive both pressing down and pulling off. Off throttle it seemed to engine brake harder than anything I've ever driven. (All this was great). Is this just my imagination? What is going on mechanically?

What year was the car you rented? With a weight balance of nearly 50/50 and a rock solid chassis, the S2000 is sensitive and responsive to throttle changes, especially in corners. Just google the phrase "throttle steer s2000" and see what I mean

This was also the exact thing when test driving my 06. I upgraded from a Chrysler Crossfire, and my girlfriend was in the car on the test drive with me. I ask her how she liked it and she says "the car is really jerky" talking about exactly what you're describing. After driving for around a month or two you get very use to it and more use to driving the car so it doesn't even happen anymore.
