Default Tips for buying used?

Hi folks,

Seriously thinking about picking up a used S2000.

Any tips on what to look for, what to watch out for, known issues?

I'm not too sussed about what model year to pick up, so long as I can find one in great condition.

thanks

Look for one that is totally stock, owned only by one person, and the older the person the better.

Older the person the better? In most cases yes, in all cases no!

make sure every panel has the VIN ID sticker on it.
make sure the car is full with oil, if not, walk away.
make sure the top works along with all other features.
drive the car on the highway and make sure no vibrations at high speeds or anything.

Good luck.

-Nick.

I always thought a compression test is a good way to gauge.

If AP1, there's an assload to look for. 1st to 2nd gear grind (sometimes even 2nd to 3rd), oil burning (common, cannot get away with it period, so check dipstick if it's full), soft top rips are the first to name.
