Regular service and drive the car. Most important is running the car for a few extended drives to get everything up to temp. This avoids water in your oil and exhaust. A good quality motor oil goes a long way.
As for the entire redesign of the oil system with Dual Remote Bypass Oil Filter and Prelube Pump setup you'll notice that user consumes a lot of qts over 40k. By the time you've added 10 quarts to Amsoil it's like new. Keep in mind this oil easily goes 15k in normal driving so by replacing it all twice no surprise it's still good by 40K.

Regular maintenance (oil AND fluid (diff & trans) changes, valve adjustments, plugs, etc), and check oil regularly.
Watch for and fix any issues that pop up (timing tensioner, etc).
Look for the 'new owners' thread. Lots of good suggestions in there.

Thanks for the tips. I somehow haven't stumbled on the New Owners thread yet. I'll have to track that one down. Multiple people have mentioned regularly checking the oil (almost every fill up) Are these known to burn that much oil?

Mine doesn't burn a drop between changes, and I do drive it like Uehara intended when circumstances allow for it.

The oil consumption thing is more an ap1 thing. To be sure not all ap1's do, but its even less likely with ap2.
Like was mentioned, find out pattern for yours when you first get it by checking regularly.
My '06 almost never needs any added, and I DD and do 5K oil changes.
These cars are almost unbelievably reliable. But the one thing that will kill the motor quick is low oil. So a little paranoa here goes a long way.
