Sev, I did it 9 months ago because my fronts were wearing heavily on the insides - by swapping over I was able to get extra life by balancing the wear - it works fine.

Just a bit of info. on the directional tires. A bunch of us in the Dallas area went to a Bridgestone/Firestone event and asked about "directional" tires. The manufacturer told us that you can run directional tires backwards all day long just don't do it in the rain. The only thing that is directional are the grooves for channeling rain out from under the tire.

inside wear means you don't take turns fast enough!

just wondering- given the cost of remounting/rebalancing vs. expected extended life, is it worth it? Probably depends on driving style. But given how expensive these tires are, maybe it's worthwhile?

I am often mixed up so here I go again.

My guess is that you only have one set of rims and the change over includes a mount and balance element.

You continue to run the directional tire in the the same direction.

Are you having uneven wear across the tires both front and rear?

How much is the cost for each change over?

Now, wear on the inside; what does that tell you about car setup?

Experts, DO NOT ANSWER --- let them do the research!!
I'm not sure what it tells me about my setup but I was less than happy this weekend to find both insides worn almost bald already after only 9k miles. It's clearly been setup like this since delivery (I don't have the spacers in there either). It doesn't pull at all and I spend most of my time on the highway. It's never been hit, rubbed a curb or otherwise alignment adjusts. So, what gives. Unless it comes standard with the fronts either toe-d out or with a lot of neg. camber what the hell is going on??

Thanks.

This is only in the context of "conventional" rotation, i.e., moving front to rear, which is the only way you can rotate directional tires, or cross-rotating by moving LF to RR and RF to LR, which can only be done on cars without directional tires AND the same size tires front and rear (the case for most cars).

Because the S2000 uses directional tires AND has different size tires front and rear, conventional rotation cannot be done.

This is not to say that you can't swap the rear tires and also swap the front tires and achieve more balanced tire wear. It just requires remounting the tires on the rims, something which is not done with conventional rotation.
