Pretty expensive. Is it worth it?

This is what it says:

Michelin's new maximum performance leader, the Pilot Sport is the tire for those who want to extend the performance capabilities of both car and driver. It's the tire for both wet and dry while delivering incredible comfort along the way.

Pilot Sports have always been that much more than the competition. Have you checked out Toyo Proxes T1-S? I have had very good luck with them at the track and in the rain(and $125 for 18/255/35!) Makes up for that $200 you commented on regarding my TE-37s

Major brain cramp- I paid $250 ea for 18/255/35 (not $125)

My experience with Michelin's is they have less ultimate grip but perform well with stiff sidewalls and decent wear.

My experience with Toyo

I've got them on my NSX. Not the absolute stickiest tires I've ever had but by far the nicest. Extremely quiet, quite sticky and they wear better than you would expect. Yes, they are worth the money.

I've had Pilot SX MXX3's on the M3 and they kick butt. I think the Pilot Sport was supposed to be a longer wearing version of that tire but I have no first hand experience with them.

I have them on my Work wheels. They haven't seen the street yet though. I paid like $300 a piece with shipping. I hope they are worth it. I have always likeed Michelin so I think I will be pleased.

I might be the voice of the minority, but I was not impressed with the SO2s from day one. I have had other tires (Dunlop SP Sport 9000, and even BF Goodrigh Comp T/A ZR) that I have liked better. So you know what? I ordered these tires up to replace my 2 worn rears (15,000 miles).

So, soon enough, I'll be able to tell you all how 245/45-16 Michelin Pilot Sports are. They are a Y rating (higher than the SO2s) and they have a treadwear rating of either 180 or 220, depending on the size.

Also, on another note, I got them at Costco for $260 per tire, plus tax. Not too bad, considering that is what it works out to if I would have gotten them from Tire Rack. And, that's all inclusive, including a road hazard warranty.

Pilot Sports came on my old (99) M3. Compared to the MXX3's, they have a softer sidewall, slightly less dry grip, much better wet grip, and better ride/noise.

They struck me as a nice compromise for the M3, but I would have liked it if their sidewalls were a bit stiffer. My guess is that the OE S02s we're running have much stiffer sidewalls.
