Tires!
Pardon if this topic has been covered before, but is anybody having problems with what I would consider premature tire wear? My '01 red S2k has about 8500 miles on her. The other day, I noticed a bit more wear on the inside edges of my front tires than the outside. To the dealer for an allignment, I thought. Did that, and found my car was in perfect allignment. Instead, I was told that those Bridgestone Potenza S 02's only last about 10,000 miles or so. The dealer showed me some tires he had changed off an S2k after about that mileage, and the rears looked as if every mile had been sideways. Bald with cord showing. As I know tires aren't covered by Honda's warranty but by a separate one, I went looking about my car for that. The Honda warranty book said it was in the glove box, but of course I don't have one (glove box or tire warranty). Would appreciate any words from s2k owners who have had tire concerns, i.e. early wear out.
Thanks,
Richard

Grippy tires don't last that long. If you want the S2K to perform the way it's advertised you'll need to put up with the significantly shorter tire life of an S02. As you increase tire life your performance will suffer.
yeah, the tires are soft performance tires...go with harder tires. Find a balance between performance (wet and dry) and treadlife...I went with the yokohama es100's. They might still be a lil too soft, b/c I went through them in 10K miles. I had a little fun on them, but not THAT much.
Thanks, all. I've seen examples, and heard of facts, that tell me that the tread left on my s2k after 8500 miles is really more than many others get. So, maybe in about four months or so, it will be new tire time. So, I have some questions. The original Bridgestone Potenze S 02s are out, as the treadwear is just too much. Also, I have found the tires to be a bit noisey. I do like the stiff sidewalls. but the noise has always been a bit much. I've considered going with some V rated tires, as I've received 30,000 miles or more out of these on another car, and also found them to have stiff sidewalls and be more quiet. Then, I could go up to Z rated tires --- some with high treadwear ratings. Then, there are some Yokohama W rated tires with fairly high wear ratings, but some feed back on noise problems on some vehicles.
As you can see, I'm a bit confused. Any advice?
Thanks,
Richard
