I am still working on this....in fact, I have taken on member hecash on this endeavor.

The design I made fit well, and did its job very well....kept heat inside the cockpit on cold days and protected the interior from sun and rain when you walked away from the car....however there were some negatives as well:

The lift that occured at speeds over 80 mph were taken care of by the fix mentioned above (by Flyin Wedge). However, after review by some local folks, they didn't like the "un-elegant" solution of "piecing" together the cover.

My design was a three piece design...a front piece that covers the dashboard, a passenger piece that zips to the front piece and fits over the roll hoops that covers the passenger and the center section, and a driver's section that zips to both the passenger piece and the front and goes over the roll hoops.

In addition to those three pieces, there were two roll hoop "hats" that fit onto the roll hoops before putting on the tonneau cover pieces. In addition to that, there is/was a boot cover that integrates with the tonneau cover that would replace the OEM boot cover.

I thought it was a good design that could allow the owner to remove everything and return the cockpit back to OEM. Alas, a couple of people thought that, though it was simple, it lacked elegance.

The one major drawback to my design was the slope of the cover towards the front of the cockpit. If the car and the cover ever got caught top down in the rain, it would be a disaster with all the water feeding right into the vent holes at the front of the dashboard.

Harry has taken the design and the car over to a professional cockpit tonneau designer, and we are waiting word for what they come up with.

Stay tuned....
