Default Too Many S2000s!

As I drove around this Memorial Day weekend, I noticed a dramatic increase in the number of S2000s I encountered on the road!

Unfortunately, they may soon become as common as Boxsters around here.

I didn't realize until now how much I enjoyed the exclusivity of having a rare car. Having purchased my MY2000 back in March 2000, it was an extremely uncommon sight to see another S2000 on the road when I first bought it.

Although I would have never believed I would be considering another roadster, I am now thinking about a Lotus Elise or, perhaps further down the road, a Jaguar F Type.

Any other old time S2000 owners around here feeling the bloom is off the rose, too?

You may be seeing more, but lets examine the options:

1. Many of those S2K's you are seeing may have been in garages all winter and what better time to take them out than on a sunny holiday. I saw five this weekend and 4 were silver like mine!

2. With more cars there are several key benefits; first better parts supply, second more great owners joining our little club, and third the more cars the more great ideas/mods. If there were only 1000 S2K's would there be great suppliers like Rick's, Mingster, Lucid, etc.?

3. Finally with more S2K's on the road, the more people will understand and respect this incredible automobile. The name Porsche impresses everyone, some day so will the name S2000. Currently the name S2000 means a great deal, only to the few who are informed.

Just some food for thought, hey the glass IS half full!

Well said acx! I'm one of those newbies here in san francisco and believe me although we're encountering maybe 5 s2k's a day at least we don't see one on every block.

There are more on the roads for sure. I can go without seeing one on the streets for a week or two. However, it was really nice this weekend and I saw 4 others, all Silverstone Silver.

They are definitely coming out of the garages!!

From Central Connecticut to Newport, RI and back, we saw 4 -- at least they all had their tops down.

3 of the 4 were couples -- all w/ baseball caps on -- we thought that was pretty funny.

I like to debunk the style of top down and baseball caps so let the hair fly

Bloom off the rose -- not around here. Come to GM, Ford, and John Deere country aka Michigan. Here's Vet's are as common as flies but that's about it. Even Miata's are not that common and they have been around for over a dozen years. Now if you are looking for a truck or an SUV, you've come to the right place.

But, no matter, the S2000 is a jewel and is still the center of my attention - and that's the only one that really matters to me.

The Elise is neat, but way over styled for me. And, Jag's are also neat but they don't excite me as much as drivng the S2000 does. The S2000 does so many 'racing' related things so well, I think we take 'em for granted. It really is the complete package and I just can't see myself letting this collector's car get away, like I did the '63 Vette, the '68 Camaro, etc. It's a keeper.

Lotus Elise

Jaguar F-Type
