Too Many S2000s!
I know several people with Elise variants in the US and abroad. I don't feel there are any more problems with the car than the S2000.
I think the biggest issues will be around "fit and finish" items vs mechanical. You have to remember that the 1.8l Rover motor is essentially an economy car motor. The Brits design a good car - they just need to work on putting them together a bit better.
All sports cars have their "problems" - it gives them character. Especially the English ones!

Yes, the D-Type and XKSS are also incredible -- just too valueable to ever drive on the streets!

I just got back from a 2500 mile trip from SC to Western IA and did not see one S2000! That's right, not one. The amount of looks and sounds I recived was equivalent to a fireworks show. The car handled great and got around 310 miles a tank full. Now I just need to do something with my killer farmer tan.
i have noticed a slight increase in the number of s2000s in my area. i saw a suzuka blue on rte. 70 and then a silvertone on rte. 73 last nite. anyone on this board??? i just waved and gave a big smile.

It must be about 6 weeks since my last sighting around here because I finally saw a yellow late yesterday on Atlantic Blvd. near Kernan. I'd love to get a few locals together but so far I only have contact with 2 other members.
I really don't see too many here. Seriously, maybe 1 every 2 weeks. The funny thing, this weekend, me and the wife were in the Grand Cayman and saw a silverstone/red. You wouldn't think you would see one in that part of the world. It was so cool! it was the european model, cleared corners, headlight washers, steering wheel on the right side. i've got pics. I'll post soon.
i would also love to get some locals together to do a drive or maybe just to hang out and learn some stuff. a new member just joined yesterday that lives only about 10 or 15 minutes from me so hopefully we can set up a meeting sometime. if anyone else lives in the south jersey area and would like to meet up sometime i'm always down.

I know this may sound very immature but when I read the first post about deciding to trade the S2000 for a Lotus or a Jaguar just because it wasn't exclusive enough I wanted to gag.
Thats the same kind of reaction that i would expect from the local Palm Beachers who are too bored to know what they already have. I happen to be a newbie not because I have just been tuned into the car, but because I am able to finally afford it. And frankly, I would not trade it for any other car no matter how much money I have to blow. Its that kind of passion for the car that sets us apart from other owners.
I agree with most everyone else. In my opinion, the prior exclusivity of the car is overshadowed by the availability of more mods, more recognition and more accessories. And as far as racing events, the S2000 outshine almost everything in its class. And other classes as well. Even on the 1/4 where it is not at its best, I have beaten a few people to their (and my!) surprise. I am gonna take my baby out to Sebring and Homestead to see how it does on the track for myself, I hear that after that, it will never be the same!!
Just wanted to throw in my two cents......
Oh another thing, wouldn't the Lotus be in the shop more than on the road?
