Top Boot Mod Fixes Problem
I keep my top down 95% of time Apr-Oct. and plan to leave boot on because of looks/dust. Besides I can now install or remove in under a minute. BUT still had problem with tabs at rear popping out. I determined they were just too short (front to back dimension) so I modified boot as follows.
Cut 2 pieces out of aluminum about 2 1/4 by 7/8 inches (size is not critical-idea is to approx double lenght-front to back dimension-of existing tabs. I used .050 stock from an old Radio Shack chassis box. Just needs to be fairly stiff but not too thick. I smoothed edges with file and sandpaper and rounded rear corners. Then I fastened them to existing tabs with two 1/8 pop rivets on each tab and painted them black. WORKS LIKE A CHARM!
