My top has the infamous wear holes next to the driver and passenger's head from opening and closing the top. Its also fading and has alot of wind noise. I bought the fix it yourself kit from advance auto but I would love a glass top!

I pay full coverage (1600 every 6 months) so I was wondering if my top were to get a larger "cut" in it if they would have to replace it.

My 500 dollar deductible is already cheaper than the cost of a replacement top, so it makes sense to me!
quoted so everyone can see what he posted

lol, we've all considered something like this at some point, but the socially responsible among us dismiss the thought immediately.

Takes balls to post in a public forum that you plan to commit a crime.

PS IBTL.

soft top with glass for my00 - 01 is only $600 from topsonline.com ( made by: Robbins Auto Tops ) OEM fit, excellent tops. Many s2ki users are using them.

I just bought one my self last night.

How about you also find an equally clever way to benefit from your life insurance?
This.

Now it's one thing to consider this, as there are many like you who have committed insurance fraud, but why in the hell would you post this?

Either way, this is too risky. An already faded top on an 8 year old car, and you would have to really sell this off as vandalism, and any smart agent will investigate it, and you could end up in jail. Good luck, but hopefully by now you realize this is not an option. Just get the top replaced, and do it the honest way. Not worth the huge risk.

Maybe if you had not posted your intentions online where it will be on record until the end of time...

You do realize that "your cost" is more than just your deductible, right? Once you factor in the rate increase you're going to pay you could have paid for a replacement in full and not risked ending up in jail for insurance fraud. Yeesh.

Whether you can get away with it or not depends. Who is your insurance company?
