i always have the top down. i have heard some stories about objects but the only thing i've encounted was a 2x4.

 

I don't like the idea of leaving the top down when I park, unless as stated above, I'm in view of the car, or going back to it in a matter of minutes. I will not take any chances with the people in the world these days, and what they would do to a convertible with a top down. I've had many times with friends who had problems like this, such as people pissing in an open convertible, etc., which is something that 10 seconds of my time putting the top up when I park can fix. When I'm driving though, always down

 

if you look at the people who have gotten stuff thrown at them they're generally in cities or states that are not used to having convertibles. here in socal people are used to seeing convertibles so drivers pay no attention and have no envy factor.
