So all GT3 drivers and Cayman S drivers are ugly?

There are some people who use the hardtop for the intimate feel and the reduced cowl shake.

And people who are exceeeedlingly good looking sometimes don't want the constant attention.
I can understand why some put a hardtop on the S2000 and leave it. They wanted an S2000 coupe and Honda never made it - so they take the next best route.

Porsche on the other hand gave its customers the option. Topless? Go Boxster. Want a Boxster coupe? Sure... its called the Cayman. Same with the GT3, albeit its not the race-ready N/A monster the GT3 is, the 911 is offered in quite a few variations including the AWD/RWD 997 Cabrios.

Take the BMW 330CiC or Corvette convertible, or any other car that is offered in coupe trim - yet there are tons of owners who buy the convertible variant and drop the top twice a year. WHY?

This thread isn't to generalize and say that everyone who keeps the top up on their 'vert is ugly, and no one is saying if you're ugly keep those mitts off the latches, its just an observation I've made with MY passengers in MY car.

not a fan of the top up.

everytime i push that roof switch up, i'm slapping myself

i get tanned from work anyway, to the point where I don't think I can get anymore tanned.

will be interesting to see how long I stick with this Mugen top I just bought. Christ I can't stand a car with J's kit w/ no hardtop and no wing. Debated for SO long between a wing and a hardtop and i figure I can always get my money back on the hardtop...less likely with the wing.

so wingless and HT in a month...see how i like it

Unless it is pouring out, I am also always top down. (And good looking I might add...)
My friends used to complain about it everytime they would get in the car, but they have finally just accepted that this is my reality and my car. I didn't buy the car to scoot around with the top up. If I wanted a closed roof car I would have gotten one.
I do think that there are a lot of convertible owners who buy the cars and essentially forget that the top can be lowered. In defense of S2000 owners, I think we are the most hardore of all topless-option drivers. I would say that 90% of the time I see an S, it is top down. S owners are followed closely by older-model Saab convertible drivers... the new ones are wussies. Least likely to have the top down- Lexus SC, T-birds, and Slks. (IMHO, SL owners are pretty good about putting it down.)

When I bought the car, I never had a convertible before. Mine is a DD regardless of weather. I was going to buy a HT but wouldn't consider it now. I love the ability to be "free"when I want. Put a good alarm system on it and go.
cruise with much attitude

yeah, I happen to find our cars a test bed of the personality of a girl on a date. When we get in my car and it's not raining, snowing or freezing(day or night), I immediately begin unlatching the roof.

As I begin to toggle the roof button, I then read their expression. If she begins to whine about her hair and being too hot outside, it's a clear sign that she would be high maintenance and it just wouldn't work, better luck next time. If she lights up with glee and rejoyces the removal of the roof, you may have a winnar!
That's a really good write-up.
