Top down theory...
I'm not ugly, but not Don Johnson either. I am married, so I don't have to worry about the high maintanance type
, plus my wife is seldom in the car.
I could care less if people think I'm ugly. Like I said, married and don't have to worry.
Top is down alot, except for rain/cold. Do put it up on retardedly hot&humid days, because my cummute to work is almost an hour and don't need to be all flippin' sweaty when I haven't done anything to get to that point.
Never worried about being "too tan"
Don't wear a hat too much in the summer either.
I keep my hair pretty short, almost military standards
BTW, I like how the elderly tell me how much they like my car!!

I don't do it that often because I hate the heat, and during the day time it's just to hot
85F w/ the sun shining on you is sweat city... My house is A/C'd to 72F and I'm not about to jump outside and have to sweat in my car and then get out and go meet people stinky and wet.
At NIGHT though, +1 top down

I ride with the top up on freeways - no matter the weather.
I ride with top down on surface streets unless I know I'm going to be in bumper to bumper traffic on some tourist type roads - like Coast Highway on a summer day cause I hate it when people look over and want your autograph.

96 deg. with over 103 heat index and 80% humidity --> Still Top Down even in traffic.
I love driving with the top down. You just get a better feeling of everything around you. Even if I can still see fine with the top up, I can't help but feel like my view is severely impeded. Granted, driving around in traffic during the summer does tend to lead me to put the top up so I don't bake in the black leather.
My girlfriend is great though. She always remembers to bring hair ties with her just in case we decide to take the S somewhere. She loves to go topless as much as I do...
...haha. Sorry, no pics.

i was in vegas last week, and saw an S2k with the top down in the 115-degree heat... it just didn't make sense...
on the other hand, there's nothing like a cruise down Pacific Coast Hwy during sunset with the top down....

I'm with the group of folks who don't really like attention (not ugly group), but still enjoy riding with the top down. Here in Louisiana, the humidity can be rather overwhelming, so that is when top up + tinted windows is a plus. With all the rain we've been getting lately it's been up a lot.
+1 for the love of nightime driving with the top down though.
