Top Gear roadtests the S2000
OK folks, I had to dig a little, but I found it! The article that cthree found belonged to the June 99 issue of Top Gear. Posted below are the pages of the article (6 in total) in JPG. My daughter calls me obsessive-compulsive
because while I was waiting for my car to arrive early last year, I had collected 1GB of downloaded material which has grown to 2.11GB in videos, images and text.
But without further ado ...

Please let me know if these links don't turn out right... they should be to the full-sized images otherwise the text will be too small to read.
I've also got an article in the same issue, also by Vicki Butler-Henderson, doing a side-by-side comparison with the base Boxster. If anyone wants it I'll upload it to Photopoint tomorrow.

This looks like an older article. It's (like many more articles) available at: http://www.honda-s2000.de/home.html Click on "Archiv" then click on "Presse". You'll see a lot of scanned articles. There's also an article from Vicki Butler-Henderson from Topgear.

If ever you need to demonstrate the 1-2 gear grind;

Wow!! That's a pretty impressive archive. I'm looking at some of those tests and they're awesome. Though, are there somewhere English translations as I would actually love to read those (like the Exile vs S2000 comparision).
Also, on a slighlty different topic - look at this pic ...

------------------------------------
Look at the speed (242km/h) and revs the car is pulling (7.8k) - that shows exaclty what kind of error the S2000's speedo has. S2000 pulls 266km/h in 6th gear when at 9k revs. At 7.8k the car is actually traveling at 230.5km/h ... that's an 11.5km/h (7.2mph) speedo error at that speed. So, for anyone reaching these kind of speeds, take 10 - 12km/h off to see what speed you were really doing.
Then another thing ... remember the debate of how fast is the BMW 330 compared to S2000? Well there is a comparision against a Z3 3.0 and thigs are pretty close...

------------------------------------
Have a look, even though the S2000 is marginally quicker from stand still (0.1sec to 100km/h and 0.7sec to 180km/h), the Z3 is actually quicker in the in-gear accelerations. (from 80km/h in gears 4th and above). S2000 wins on laptime too, by 1.9 secs. Though, in a straighline - they are almost line ball with the S2000 having a tiny edge.

I just noticed that in the video, the S2000 badge actually has a small Honda badge on top of it. Our cars in the US don't have that. Wonder if they changed the badges, or if Honda just uses that for non US market cars??
