Top mechanism & seal maintenance
So, I'm new to owning a convertible.
I want to know if there is a regular maintenance routine that you follow.
Where do you apply the Shin-Etsu Grease? The manual says apply to the seals, but is not real clear exactly where.
Do you do any maintenance on the top mechanism/frame?
Thanks

using a VINYL top cleaner and protectant (raggtop or 303, search detailersdomain.com) are products you use to protect the fabric. just remember our tops are VINYL. also, shin-etsu grease is for the rubber seals. it can be used on all weather stiripping. ive read that applying it twice a year is adequate.
if you need more help, search the wash and wax forum for how to threads, or find somebody in your local section that might be willing to meet up with you to show you the in's and out's of the car.

^ All good info right there. And you apply the shin-etsu to basically anything that is rubber on the frame and things like the window seals. Believe me a little bit goes a long way so no need to over do it.
I used to use Shin-Etsu on my 05 S2K (rubber seals, gaskets, etc on the top) but am now just using the 303 Aerospace protectant for the same stuff on my 08. It seems to serve the same purpose -- keeping the seals and gaskets soft and smooth/slippery. It's easier to apply also. Can anyone think of a reason Shin-Etsu would be preferred?
