Here are the calculated speeds of each gear.

Depending whether you are in an incline or have more power than stock, you will be drag limited in 6th. Some guy took it to 280KMH ~ 173MPH on a pre 04.

Pre-04 has HIGHER top speed!!!!

















in reverse (50mph vs 43.5 mph)

Anyone that does an independant run up to those speeds needs to keep in mind that the speedometre is highly inaccurate at high speed, so the registered number on the display is 99% not correct.

I've "hit" 145 miles per hour in my old '01 S2000, but I have a feeling I wasn't going that fast, because I was not at redline in 5th yet.

I think GeorgeP has got it right. I suspect that anybody who says his car goes over 150 either:

1. Was going downhill
2. Had a big tail wind
3. Ignored speedo error
4. Has a modified engine
5. Is lying
