90mph is the fastest you've been? step on the gas AP1 is drag limited to 150-155ish AP2 is gear limited to 151 I guess.

 

I've seen an S2k do 162mph indicated, while the actual was 159mph, laser verified. So I think from 174 to 166 is a stretch without actually taking a measurement. Our cars speedo's are generally quite accurate even up to those speeds. We do not get much tire flex.


Also, the video is of turbo dave, however, he WAS NOT FI'd. No SC or turbo. he just got himself going down a nice hill.


regardless, top speed on either an ap1/ap2 is around the 155mph mark in stock form. the ap1 will vary with wind conditions and hill grade.

I'm looking at a Car and Driver desk calendar and today they feature the S2000 they took to Bonneville. It's a 2002 AP1 that has been lowered, but other than that, appears stock. They claim a record run at 153.864.

 

I thought our cars were limited to 139 or so like alot of the other cars on the road??? But 155 is awesome...

 

no, there is no speed limiter. the only limits are imposed by gearing and drag.

His mods at the time were header, exhaust, test pipe, Mugen ECU, t-stat, and radiator cap.

 

it was the radiator cap that pushed it beyond 170.
