If you ever did want to change at a light remember that everyone is probably ALREADY staring at your car, especially having Spa Yellow!!!

Well, I cut the power lead wire, so I can put the top up while moving. I no longer have to be stopped so I can put it up/down while rolling. I don't do this going over 20 mph.

I've gotten a few PM's on how I did the conv top modification to raise/lower while moving. "Modifry" is the ones that helped me figure it out.

Below is also what I did to override the convertible top speed sensor. This will let you put the top up while moving at slow speeds without having to PULL OVER. There is still some safety, as you have to pull up the e-brake one click and then you have full control.

That really helped. I got the passenger dash panel off, but really had to pry hard with my fingers behind the panel. It eventually came out.

From your reply to my post:
Jason B - It's probably not that hard to disable the convertible top disable inputs from the brake and speed sensor. The convertible top module is behind the passenger dash access panel. see photos below, (taken from my Convenience Mod install, so disregard the "cut the yellow wire" stuff.

The speed sensor wire is the white/black wire, brake input is green/black. These are the only wires of these colors on the convertible top module. If you remove both of these wires from the module, the top should operate all the time, BUT I HAVE NOT TRIED THIS MYSELF. NO GUARANTEES.
I found the white/black wire right away! I couldn't find the green/black brake input wire anywhere. I then thought it might be pretty unsafe to get rid of that one anyway. If someone ever drove the car, there would be able to put the top up/down at ANY TIME. I'm glad I couldn't find that wire come to think of it.

So, I just pulled the speed sensor wire white/black. Now, the top will go up/down when the car is moving and when the ebrake is clicked up one notch - just enough to show the "BRAKE" light on the instrument cluster. As you know, you have to pull the ebrake up about 5 clicks before it will have an effect anyway.

Sweet!

Jason B

Just out of curiosity, not to flame, why would you want to be able to raise or lower the top with the car moving. Don't you think it's a real safety issue? What is the point?

Ever since I got the car, the top is mostly down. MORE than a few times it's started to rain and sometimes you can't pull over. I had a few close calls with where the interior would have been drenched if i didn't do this mod. You can't fool it in stock form - you must be FULLY stopped.

Now I don't have to be at a complete stop to put the top up. This is one of my favorite mods and has saved my a$$.

I've never gone more than 20 mph. No problems.

I may try hitting 80mph and see if I can get airborne.
