I honestly do not really ever consider theft a paramter when deciding whether or not to leave the top down or up. I am more concerned with things like the weather, is it too hot, are there lots of birds around, is it humid out (water will condense on the interior at night), etc etc.

I figure if someone wants to break into my car they are going to do it no matter what. I don't leave anything out in plain vew so I figure they have no more motivation to break into my car than anyone's else's. It almost never gets left outside overnight so I am not too concerned with someone trying to get the seats out of it.

Anyhow, that is what I pay those nice insurance premiums for.

I usually park with the top up -- mostly to protect the interior from direct sunlight or rain, not bird poop.

Theft? I'm not sure the top up is much of a theft deterrent guys. Any convertible is easy to get into. Things like seat locks are good though because they make it difficult for someone to get the buggers out. True, that might just tick someone off and they'll put a knife into them too.

Overall, I weigh in favor of top up for parking.

So most of you do park with the top up, i will protect it with 303 most of the time, unless i leave it down alot in the summer, then i will probably only do it once or twice ever 3 months. but ya, thanks for the replies

One note, 007... I just had my top replaced yesterday as my warrantee was nearly expired. I don't know how to prevent it, but it does seem that wear and tear can make the top threadbare over time. If you drive in cold weather, it's probably best to follow the manual and not raise/lower the top much

IMO, though, that's a defect in the top mechanism (I guess Honda agrees, as they did they replaced the fabric for me). It's still worth protecting your interior.
