S2krob: Nope that was delivered to me for pickup in Barrie. Got to Barrie and the dealer there said he never wanted me to go there and try to buy a car, he'd need a roid pillow to sit down .

There certainly are deals to be had right now. Any car (exotics not included) that is sitting on the lot is costing that dealer X amount of money per month to be there. Offer them a grand over cost and the dealer holdback (Oh yeah they will say "Dealer what?") and it'll be yours. Avoid the trade in, avoid cash or cheque deposits etc.

Now is the time of year to buy the 2001's...end of MY. My advice on when to buy is go in on the last day of the month, look for the needy looking sales guy (Like Gill on the Simpsons) and make his day, you'll have to deal with the manager or the owner to get the deal but hey might as well let that guy feed his kids. If its the last day (or week) of the month, go in when the weather is crap, no one will be there no sales that day likely and really play up how the weather is changing and this thing will be here till next year.

You'll be shocked when you find out what they actually pay for these things.

I love car buying, its a lot of fun especially with Honda dealers that think they are a Porsche dealer. Go to a Porsche dealer first and then go to Honda and talk S2K...you'll be shocked at how pathetic the Honda dealer is, and you won't feel bad at him making less money than he thinks he should.

Dogman: Thanks. So you think the best time to buy an S2K is in late September? I have to wait until late December for financing reasons because I need to get approved credit from Honda unless my girlfriend can somehow finance the car from where she is in Hong Kong.

In short, would it be to late to purchase an S2000 in December?

Heck no, not to late at all.

You'd get a killer deal on a 2001, and probably quite a good deal on MY2002.

Depending on the financial situation pick the best one for your budget.

If you want the acurate paper work to take into the dealer (very good idea) go to www.carcost.ca and pay the $15 for the info on either this MY or next. Stick that in the dealers yap and see what kind of deal you can make.

The only problem I see is driving it home in December and then parking it for a few months.

That'll kill ya.

U could get a used one for around $42K in the winter months. However u can't go below msrp if u purchase a new one.. Cars are generally cheaper to purchase in the winter.

Hey BB I noticed in your signature you have a Lancer. Did you import it to Toronto? Wowowowowow.

My gf has a modified Evo VI in HK and we were wondering about importing one here for track use. If you did import it, can you give me some details? Thanksssss

Going to dealer on Friday for preliminary talk, just been doing some research so that I will know what to ask for.

I'm really worried Honda Canada will not finance me the car because I do not have enough credit even though I can give them a huge downpayment.

Heck, i'm not even working part-time right now but my girlfriend is part-time in another country so I don't know if she can finance it. The 30k CDN down + $1500/ CDN month for 24 months is comfortabally affordable for me (I have no bills to pay), but how can I explain to the dealer I will be getting XXX amount of dollars?

What exactly does Honda check during a credit check?
