Total cost of car?
nivaq,
Perhaps, it is you who has a part in this issue.
Dealership will try to screw you if they think they can get away with it.
Thus, part of the blame is on you for not being educated and being push over.

The other variable is the 04 civic. What model and, auto or stick? On bank contracts you can not show negative equity on trades. If his car was really worth say $11000 and he owed 13300, (on the contract), they would have to inflate the sales price $2300 and the trade in $2300 to $13300 to cover his inequity (upside down is the common term). Again it may not be a bad deal overall. Lots of variables in a car purchase.
Nivaq,
Thanks for sharing your documents. They allowed me to see that my calculations were correct. I appreciate that.
Rest assured, Nivaq, the loan finance computations were correct and your monthly payment is what it should be, given that you agreed to a loan of $22,127.34 @ 7% for 5 years. All is well

S2000red07, I just wanted to chime in and say I thin you did a great job explaining it all. Thansk for being an asset to the community.
Nivaq listen to the man he seems to know his stuff.
Also as many others have said, there are lots of variables to look at in a car purchase but the bottom line is are you happy? If so I wouldn't look back and just use it as a learning experiance to be better prepared next time you buy a car.
Hope it helps, God's blessings . . .

Nivaq,
You want to get pre-approved loan from a Credit Union before you go to a car dealer for your next purchase. You would get lower interest rate, and you will see all the items they are charging you more clearly on the pruchase order. That way you will see that they are charging you almost $700 for dealer prep and doc fees, and these are pure frofit on top of the normal profit they already get from selling that car.
