I suspect the OP meant tank-slapper. Another term borrowed from the MC world that does apply to cars, and would seem could apply to this accident.

MC tankslapper = bump etc causes handlebars to wag back-and-forth, sometimes violently.

Auto tankslapper = Overcorrected sliding oversteer where a series of back-and-forth slides occur as driver fights to regain control.

Congrats on getting a replacement so fast. Time to take some driving classes before trying to push any limits in it.

They can't. Instead they look at loss profile of certain cars, age brackets, etc and charge premium accordingly. Unfortunately, that impacts all of us.

I hope OP this time respects the car he drives. Know your limits. You aren't the only person on the road. For now be glad it was just the car. You might not have that luck next time.

Not completely true. This is a convertible after all. No seatbelt, helluva impact and you could conceivably eject yourself and "highside". Probably wouldn't be posting to a forum about it though, certainly not in a similar time frame.

^^ That's just not nice. He had days. Now he's ready to have years. I'm sure he has no intention of repeating whatever happened with his last S2000 if there is any way to avoid it.

The terms high side and low side refer to the leaned over bike. Fall down towards the side you are already leaning towards, low side. Flip onto the other side (which can only occur due to slide then sudden catch), high side. See, low side is the side of the bike which is lower to the ground.

Cars don't lean, so no way to high or low side (well yeah, they do roll some, but there really isn't a low side and high side of car while cornering. Besides, car leans opposite from bike lean.)
