^^ I also have the Chase Rase hitch. Doug Chase also confirmed with me the 200lb tongue load and 1000lb tow limit. I'm carrying a pretty heavy downhill mountain bike plus my ~40lb bike rack.

I do like that hardtop setup above. How did you do the mounts? I'm interested.

I have a Chase Race hitch, and tow a 3 person jetski (700 lbs) with it. With the trailer I'm guessing that I'm just under 1,000 lbs.

I've towed to Maine, which is 11 hours each way and into the Adirondacks (mountains/hills) with absolutely no problems. Mileage drops by about 2-3 mpg, and that's it. No brake fade, just accelerates a little slower when trying to pass at 60+.

I have done a search on this before and read all about the torque, subframe rigidity and so on. But it has been so many years. How many people consistently tow something with your S2000 for years and have not had problems? How much do you tow?
Since you have a MY 2002, there are 2 hitch types available ... A Curt Manufacturing ($154) and a Chase Race Hitch ($400). Chase bolts/pins to the chassis and diferential bolts and the Curt Manufacturing has mountings to the underside of the trunk .... Here are a couple of S2Ki threats that discuss them both ...

god i would love to see you gguys on the road have to pull off an emergency stop. its not the towing that the problem...its the stopping. years ago jeep made an add with a wrangler pulling a train box car....cool right? they didnt show you the jeep trying to stop the thing. ive seen ranger pick ups towing tri axle boat trailers with the boats, i just wave and let them go first.

Same thing can be said about a Ford F350 pulling anything. Is it safe pulling a jetski when someone slams on the brakes at 65mph? Probably not. It can probably pull an airplane too, is it safe when someone slams the breaks? Also, probably not.

not but its desgined for towing... and its has things beefed up for that purpose...like better brakes, beefier tranny, etc. and its also rated to tow things up to XXXXXX amount. i dont recall our car being rated to tow XXXXX amount. as a matter of fact i believe that you can only have like 400lbs of passenger and cargo

whats your point there are things that ar designed to do a job, and there are things that are designed to do in a pinch. like yeah you can nail things together and you can also duct tape them, which is going to fail first?

i have practiced emergency stops, and it has stopped with no drama. 80mph stand on brake, lemme see what happens stops. again, no drama. i did however do a pad upgrade, but aside from that the car is stock. to honda for such a damn fine automobile!

Okay, so you have a point.

At least I'm safe just carrying a bike rack and some bikes.
