If you haven't yet, check the forums at Miata.net for more info there on going prices on Miatas. I'm guessing $10-13K from dealer-low to private sale?
New '02 S2000's can be found for $29.5-$30K at various places around the country. Heck, even new '03's are occasionally shown at $30K or less. Marketplace forum ads here indicate tough sales as of late. So, I'd say about $26K-28K.
Difference is then $13K at the optimistic end and $18K at the more pessimistic end. And I bet even the latter would take a round or two of negotiating. $15K would be a good get?

I did it .............finally, thanks to everyone. 2002 white with red 2300 miles great shape looks new. My car plus 15k, took some time but well worth the drive. Much easier to deal at Star Honda in abilene than any dealer in the dfw area. Thanks again to everyone. janat
