Grinding or having a hard time getting into gear are the common symptoms. For example I have had about a dozen times where I have ground the gear going into 2nd with the clutch fully depressed.
Things like this. No completely blown transmissions, where cases may have a potential of cracking or anything of that nature, at least for now.

This one. My original AP1 trans had it BAD at about 120k. I replaced it with another AP1 trans with a claimed 16k on it and now I'm starting to notice the very faint noise coming back with 168k on it. It always had good Honda fluid in both transmissions. I just switched to Amsoil in hope that it will prolong the life a little bit. I killed 3 transaxles in my old car using the "good factory fluid" before switching to a high performance synthetic (granted it was handling a good bit more power than stock, but still). I should have learned my lesson on this factory fluid snake oil crap then, but I stuck with it on this car and it has let me down again. The Amsoil feels sooo much better. If I replace this trans it will be an AP2 box and only get good fluid.
I have to see if this was updated on the AP2 transmissions, but this issue will be kept in mind, all internals would be closely inspected.
I didn't expect this many replies or attention, right away, this was for guaging interest, but if the interest/demand stays high, I'll get serious on this.

Yeah i am in the same situation it does not want to go into 6th gear, so if i have somebody do the job replace the 6th gear syncro it will cost more than a low mileage used AP2 trans so i really don't see the point of rebuilding just my openion.

Its why I'm working on trying to get the price as low as possible and stay competitive.

Have him throw upgraded synchros in the AP1 transmissions and he'll do well.

Have him do some dog-ring gear swaps, while he's at it too.
I'm trying to find someone that will supply in bulk, to keep the costs down. The issue with these is the initial cost. I still have to work out all the details.
