Unhappy Traveling too Fast Ticket

Tiday I went to traffic court for my trial date for a ticket I received back in April of this year. I already had the first sit down with a prosecutor and I pled not guilty hense the trial date.

I arrive at court just as the officer walks in so I figured I'm done for because I was speeding. He caught me on radar driving towards me and locked me at 50 in a 30. The prosecuter met with me before the trial and said if I paid 60.00 the charge would be a Traveling too Fast violation which in CT is the lowest of the 4 rankins for speeding with Reckless Driving being the worst.

I agreed to pay the 60.00 and I must say the officer was very nice and seemed to appreciate that I didn't push the matter.

Last year I had 2 speeding tickets and Geico kicked me out of the to teir safe driver category and raised my premium from 800.00 for 6 months to 1750.00 for six months. Fortunetly for me I got married before my renewal and my wife has a PERFECT driving record and Geico kept us both under her policy in the top teir and my rate for the S dropped to 775.00 for 6 months.

Here is my question: How will this Traveling too Fast ticket affect us. Will my tickets kick us both to the more expensive premium or will her good driving help to keep me in Geico's good graces?

No flaming please. I really need to know the honest truth so I know if I have to prepare for a COLD Winter at home.

Thanks.

P.S. Just bought my membership, took me long enough ;-)

Why not ask your insurance agent or Geico directly? The opinions you get here will be worth exactly what you paid for them. Your insurance company will do as it pleases anyway so not as if anything you find out will change the outcome.

Good point. I apologize for posting this. I guess I shouldn't have been speeding to begin with.

Don't be so hard on yourself, we all speed, even those who say they don't are lying. Anyway, I do agree with Ludedude on one point. The insurance company can be VERY flaky because they have some very convoluted systems on determining chances for an accident/payout. The only way to know is to call and ask. I'm with progressive and tickets haven't raised my insurance much at all, but as you've seen, tickets can rape you in insurance.
