Trouble in the wet...
Thanks for all the input. All your comments hit good points. I'm sure it was a culmination of things (slick/wet roadways, oil on the road, cold summer tires with less than par tread, too much/little gas, driver error ?) but with all said and done... lesson learned.
Now it's off to the body shop. Does anyone have a ballpark figure for 1) new bumper 2) oem front lip 3) new front underlining ???

Tires had less than 14K on them with mostly easy driving.
The VSA does put me much more at ease in the rain.
I gave the VSA a little test the other day. I've had the car for less than a month, so I wanted to see how the VSA worked and how much slide it allowed.
So I made a right turn at a decent speed in the wet and gave it a little more throttle mid turn than I would normally and the tail started to come out. Power cut immediately but I stayed on the gas and power came back as soon as the car got straight again.
The VSA wasn't overly evasive but handled the situation completely on its own. I used to have a VW GTI with the ESP traction control and it completely killed power upon any tire spin and was really annoying.
