At the request of certain members I have looked into creating trunk mats and console mats for the S2000. Here are the preliminary pics which demonstrate where we're heading with the design of the trunk mat.

This pic shows the edges without the base mat. Note the smooth fit and how the mats cover all areas prone to wear and tear.

This pic shows the base mat in place. Note the coverage around the trunk latch area. Great if you're dragging your golf clubs in and out of the trunk.

And this one was worth including for the sign in the background

Mats will be available as:

1. A complete set.
2. Base mat only
3. Sides only (for those who buy the base and later want to add the sides.

I will have pics of a complete finished set by day's end which I will post tonight. I will also have pics of a complete set of Console Mats.

Looks great Muz! I'm in for the complete trunk set and the console mats as well.

A few questions I have:
Will the trunk mat cover the entire drivers side of the trunk? I don't have the CD changer.
Will the mats be carpeted like the 1 piece mats?
Are you going to have a S2000 logo option?

Thanks! Love the shots of your beautiful Blue!

Muz,

that's looking very nice. I think you're on the right track!

Is the mat in these pictures going all the way to the bottom of the tool well, or is it designed to go over it, with the tool kit in place? Are you considering both options?

Any thoughts of doing a spare tyre space mat?

I'm most interested in that one and the console mats, but I may have to consider the full trunk mat, too.

Thanks,

Ted

The spare is in the trunk, you can see it in Muz's pictures. The gray carpeted piece that you see with the tire shaped bulge can be removed for access to the spare.

Some S2000 owners, including myself, want to run without the spare, to save weight and/or space.

I'm hoping that Muz will make a mat to cover the unfinished surfaces where the spare goes...

And here's the finished prototype....

I've used a yellow trim option for the purposes of taking photos. I would normally choose a charcoal mat with charcoal or black trim in my blue S.

The base mat is tight fitting with a stiff rubber backing (like my floormats) and acts almost like a plug to secure the sides of the mat proper. 6 Velcro tabs hold the mat in place, 4 of which are on the back top edge near the trunk latch.

Here's a slightly less overexposed pic showing the contrast of the black against my stock 'charcoal' carpet.

And a view from the opposite end.

You can still remove the cover over the tool well with ease without having to remove the rest of the mat to access your tool kit, jack etc.

I have also had console mats done. I'll be picking these up tomorrow. They will be plain black, same material as trunk mats. There is a mat for both sections of the secret compartment and also the main glovebox. The mat for the main glovebox covers both the bottom and the back wall of the glovebox. (At last I'll be able to throw my Nokia 8810 in there without scratching the sh!t out of it.)
