Default Trunk Release Not Working

All of the sudden my trunk release wont work....when I open the trunk and I press the key fob, the latch slightly moves but it doesnt seem to push in the latch all the way.

EDIT: I'm really embarrassed to update my thread with this but it turned out to be a dead/low battery. I've had my car sitting up on my quikjack for the past month. I didn't think it was the battery because the light in the trunk would turn on.

My cluster is removed and the steering wheel column is loose so I had to remove the start button from the cluster, put on the jump starter and voila, everything works fine now.

Sorry folks.

Admins please feel free to close this thread.

Does the secret compartment button open the trunk correctly?

Nope. It makes a clicking noise and the lock slightly moves, but it doesnt fully open the trunk.

How's your battery voltage? Tried this with the engine running?

Almost every problem with the trunk release behaving problematically is rooted in the failure of the wires going from the body to the trunk lid. Constant flexing over years will cause a wire to fail intermittently or completely. I would check the wires first.
