In trunk what are the two rods that cross in front

Spare tire rim well is a great place to store the "tool box" tools, wrap them up in an old sock... not sure what these black rods are that cross in front of the spare, almost looks like cross bracing.

that my friend would be the spring tensioners to make it possible for your trunk to pop up when you pop your trunk.

Tip: dont shove a lot of luggae in the trunk to the point where it barely closes. I bent my springs and now they make popping noises when I open and close the trunk.
