Default Trying to install HT myself

I just picked up HT yesterday from one of member and I am looking over Honda installation manual before I try to break anything.

Questions

1. Do i have to replace HT strikers? Is that necessary?

2. Is there any useful tips that I should know before i start?

3. The used HT i got is off of MY01, would its installation kit work on MY00 VIN#5800s?

Thanks guys!

You should get the HT strikers for the windshield. They're needed to hold onto the HT better as you are dealing with much more weight. Also, the HT strikers will help your soft top seal better.

Cross reference the installation manual to make sure you have all the parts needed to do this. The main things are the strikers, the rear latch brackets. If you have these, you can at least get the thing installed on the car. Then you'll need to contend with all the wiring necessary to get the rear defroster working. This will include the relay, switch gear and wiring harnesses. You'll also need the interior trim panels so that you can put the interior back together again. The original panels won't cover properly as the HT catches need different panels around them. One of those would be those things with the brushes on them.

The HT installation was simple on my 05, but I think there are more issues involved in the installation on a MY 00. I'll be watching for responses for folks who know about your year car. Good Luck and enjoy the quieter ride.

Buy some shin-etsu and lube up the seals before placing on the car.

Dont install interior panels until you are 110& satisfied with the adjustment/fit -- You'll go nuts constantly taking off those panels.

Be sure to follow the sequence of first locking the front latches, tightening the rear bolts and only then locking the rear latches.

It may be useful to have one of those flexible head ratchets for tightening of the hardtop bolts. I also found it useful to use a very thin, flexible putty knife to get in between the trim pieces to dislodge the tabs.

Can't help you with the '00 headaches...good luck
so it seems like 00' has some fitting issues...

well...im having it now! hahaha

will try to figure out how to move the left side rear to move back a bit more..

I am having huge gap on my left front

anywayz, I will try to fix my gaps by following your way.

thx! robotkiller
