Default Turbo or Supercharger

I am wondering which is better for the S a turbo or SC? i would think the SC is a little easier on the motor but which gives better performance a turbo or sc??

I think generally better performance is achieved w/ the speedcraft turbo kit as opposed to the comptech or vortech supercharger kits, if i'm right sc gives low 13's, while the turbo can pull low 12's, that's just one aspect of the total package, like reliability, etc.

well i've been hearing that the sc is not exactly problem free once i had a chance to meet and talk with some guys, so i'm gonna wait as i enjoy the car pretty thoroughly stock and have plenty of time to watch and wait.

There are so many comparisons it's rediculous. The main differences are how power is made, and where the power comes in.

A Supercharger by definition takes power from the engine (pulley) to spin a compressor. This loss - parasitic loss - is made up by the boost in power gained by the extra fuel and air introduced to the engine.

Because the Comptech Supercharger is a centerfugal type blower it has a linear amount of boost based on the RPM at any given moment. Lower RPM means lower boost, higher, more boost. This means that there isn't a significant amount of boost produced by the S/C until around 6000 RPM - where the S2000 has power to begin with. Granted it has even more power now.

The Speedcraft turbo has a non-linear amount of boost. Boost is built and blown off based on throttle position, and the turbo compressor's ability to spool. The turbo used in the Speedcraft application is a Turbonetics T60 Hi-Fi ball bearing turbo. This turbo is very high quality, and able to be completely spooled at 3500 rpm (@ 8psi.) Driving around town the turbo spools very quickly even in higher gears. Pressing the throttle a half-inch makes the boost gauge jump to 0 and start to build boost immediately. It's quite an experience to floor the car and FEEL the power building as you get pressed back harder and harder

the drivetrain has been known to handle the power provided that you don't drop/shock it. Building the engine is not necessary for reasonable amounts of boost. (6-8 psi)
