This might be off topic here, but...

Anyone ever seen the side markers on the new Beetle? They are clear and appear to have an amber LED that flashes when the signal is activated. Looks pretty neat...

also, the newer Cadillac Catera has the same type of lighting for its rear turn signals.

This caught my eye because the color of the amber is somewhat distinctive and there is something a little different about how it flashes (much like our HIDs when they turn off, its instant).

Anyhow, anyone know if something like that would work on our cars and how hard it would be to refit? All this talk about side markers has spurred this question from me...

I think they are the new LED based markers

You should be able to pick them up at your local speed shop for 20-30

They use an amber (or a bank of) LED's that light up. The aftermarket kits come pre-assembled (led and marker) w/ wiring (if needed)

I don't think they make one in the shape of the S2000 marker, but I am pretty sure that they should fit the hole in the panel.

Thanks!

I think they look pretty neat, certainly an option if I ever go to the clear markers...

For now, I think I'll stick with the stock setup. To me, it just doesnt look right until you get the front corners cleared... the amber sides actually go well with the amber corners...

Of course, the rear lights are (of course) done right with the clear lens and amber bulb... too bad Honda couldnt use some consistency and either make it ALL amber or all clear

Actually Honda did use consistency with all clear lenses, for the USDM and the Euro Cars. Too bad the US cars had to have the amber.

Rick has been looking into LEDS for the side-markers. It appears they have been on backorder for sometime now.
