Go with HPI. I've have many of there kits over the years. (been in the hobby for 10 years) They are excellent. And there bodies are top quality and hey have an AP2 shell.
If its your first car get an electric, Nitro is such a PITA. And the electric is cheap to run. The drifting ones look fun.

I only picked up one of the lower end brushed motors for my son because he's still learning to move up from the "local store" RC to the hobby RC. Even that one goes about 35-40mph. You'll be much happier with the hobby version compared to the ToysRUs type. You even have the option to change bodies and replace almost any part should it get damaged.
