87 Octane actually has a higher energy density than 91. The car is tuned for 91 though, so it might actually get better gas mileage on the 91. IF the ECU can compensate properly for the 87, and you're not worried about knock (that is, you dont rev the car up where knock is a problem) you'd actually get better gas mileage on 87 - I wouldnt try it though.

octane rating is NOT equal to the "power" of the fuel. you just get more power out of the ENGINE, not the fuel, because you can run higher compression at hotter temps without knocking.

I live 3 miles from a Sunoco 93 it is.

btw, some Turkey Hills carry it too.

You guys arent listening...running higher octane than necessary actually gives you less power, if the ECU can't account for the higher octane!
